Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bradford and District conducted an Enter and View visit to Waddiloves Health Centre on 18 February 2014.

Healthwatch Bradford and District has four Enter and View volunteers with a learning disability and these newly trained volunteers wanted to carry out a visit to a good health service for people with a learning disability and chose Waddiloves Health Centre.

At Waddiloves Health Centre people with a learning disability can access various services such as podiatry dentistry, and audiology. The volunteers decided the Enter and View visit should be about checking the reception and the waiting areas to see if they were accessible and suitable.

The Authorised Representatives felt that the building was very accessible. There is a ramp at the entrance and the door is very wide with a lot of space to move around in the building. The visiting team also felt that the staff were very welcoming noting that they explained everything in a way that the Authorised Representatives could understand. They reported that the people they spoke to there were very nice.

Based on the visit, the Authorised Representatives felt that Waddiloves Health Centre is a very good service for people with a learning disability.

The report makes two recommendations: Improve the survey on ‘Elephant’ [patient survey App] by cutting the number of questions on the survey. The questions could be simpler with some more pictures. The Authorised Representatives also felt that face to face feedback would be better.

The second recommendation was that Bradford District Care Trust should tell other providers what Waddiloves does to make its service good and accessible.

There was no provider response included within this report.
