Summary of report content

Healthwatch Birmingham conducted a visit to the Sage Suite at the Juniper Centre, Moseley Hall Hospital on 22 April 2014. The team spoke with staff, patients and relatives to explore their experience. Sage Suite accommodates patients for older men with mental health conditions and rare dementia.

The team considered the ward to be well led with staff who are committed and supportive. Staff were observed to be accommodating to the patients. The physical environment was observed to be well presented and clean, complying with dementia friendly initiatives. The team spoke with 1 patient’s relative who praised the staff on the ward.

The report recommended that the ward implement a training programme for staff who want continued learning.

The service provided a response to the report who acknowledged the recommendation.
