Healthwatch Warwickshire conducted an Enter and View on Kenilworth Manor Nursing Home with 34 places on 23rd April 2014. The Enter and View visit set out 17 prompts to establish the quality of care and experience at the Home, with an emphasis on dignity and end of life.
Observation by the Enter and View representatives reported that: the home was welcoming and friendly; there was a variety of activities available for residents including yoga, pamper sessions, supervised cooking, games and occasional trips out; and the manager reported that end of life and advanced care planning was reviewed monthly with residents and their families. Negative observations included: that communal area space was severely restricted, which limited activities; and there were missed opportunities for mental health stimulation and skill maintenance.
Residents commented that: the Home was well organised and the staff were very kind and patient; residents spoke highly of their carers and all comments were favourable.
Improvements recommended by residents included: offering a wider range of stimulating activities; access for residents to make their own refreshments; and giver residents more opportunity to make suggestions by providing a suggestion box or questionnaire.
