Healthwatch Brighton and Hove conducted an Enter and View at Aspirations Active Care Home which provides services for people who have complex learning disabilities on 13th January 2015.
This visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove’s Enter and View schedule of six Enter and View visits between October 2014 and March 2015 to social care services including day centres and care homes focused on the theme of social activities and social occupation.
Enter and View representatives focused on observations of the service and discussions with staff.
Observations by the Enter and View representatives reported that: the centre had a range of spaces for different atmospheres and activities; staff were observed to be calm, friendly and always smiling; and representatives were impressed with the attentive staff and environment of the centre.
Healthwatch Brighton and Hove recognised that because of the unique nature of the service recommendations may not apply and that a best practice report based on the findings across all six Enter and View visits would be published at later date.
The Manager responded positively to the report commenting that the visit was constructive and an opportunity for an external perspective of service delivery.
