Healthwatch Cheshire West conducted an Enter and View visit to the Haematology and Blood Clinic at Countess of Chester Hospital on the 17th of February 2015. The team used survey methods and made general observations during their visit.
Overall, patients and service users were very positive about their experiences with the clinic. In particular, patients and service users were very complimentary about staff. The report highlighted that there was only one toilet in the treatment area for up to 17 patients and any visitors they may have, which was indicated as an area of concern. The team also noted that the staff were very busy and appeared to be under some strain.
The report included several suggestions for improving the service. It recommended looking into how the facilities can be improved. It also suggested that the provision for barrier nursing be reviewed as staff appeared to be very busy.
The report included a response from the provider. The provider acknowledged the recommendations in the report and indicated that it was looking into options to implement these.
