Enter and view: Claremont House

Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire conducted an announced Enter and View visit to Claremont House on 19 February 2015. The team spoke to residents, relatives and members of staff. Residents were asked about the care they received and how they found living in the home using survey methods. The team also made general observations during the visit.

The team observed that residents were well-cared for, and staff interacted with resident frequently in a positive manner. It was noted that residents were generally happy with the meals and mealtimes, and they had choice over what they wanted to eat. The residents praised the staff and the level of care they received. The team reported that there was a garden available for the residents to use, however, many residents do not use the garden area. The overall feedback from residents and relatives was very positive.

The report made three recommendations. One was for the Manager to give some consideration to issuing staff with name badges to ensure they can be clearly identified. The second recommendation was to clear and maintain the garden space so that it was available for residents to use. The third was for the report to be shared with residents and relatives.

The report included a response from Claremont House. The Manager noted the recommendations and indicated that they would ensure staff members wore their issued name badges. The Manager also stated that clearing of the garden had begun the same week.
