Healthwatch Warwickshire did an announced Enter and View to Kineton Surgery on 27th April 2015. The surgery was newly renovated, decorated and furnished with a bright and welcoming interior. There were limited disabled bays available.
As there was no call system for appointments, nurses and GPs would call patients individually from waiting room. The PPG was found to be well advertised.
The Healthwatch team found the surgery met all of their observational criteria.
The questionnaire asked the patients attending the surgery about appointments, access, parking, signage, staff attitudes, cleanliness and the quality of care amongst other things. Most of the questions were answered as ‘Good’. Some comments were, “Kineton is growing community with lots of targeted development [area 600 houses]. So need to expand to cope with future demand. This has to be planned.”
“Once I was told that ‘do you know how many patients I have seen today, it’s 6.00pm I’m 45 minutes late’. With due respect that wasn’t my fault. Great service now.”
“I find these 2 surgeries, their staff and particularly the GP quite exceptional. Their care and help are exemplary.”
The report has one recommendation, to inform patients on the day of any delays which may impact their appointment.
