Healthwatch Warwickshire did an announced Enter and View visit to Station Street Surgery, on 28th April 2015. There was no visible signage from the road. No concerns were noted, and the surgery is purpose built. The surgery stands next to a public car park which has free parking. Three disabled bays are available next to the surgery. The internal decoration was found to be clean and tidy.
The Healthwatch team found the surgery met most of their observational criteria, except in a few areas. There was no electronic check in and there was only one accessible toilet available. The names/photographs of GP’s and staff, at the surgery, were not displayed either.
The questionnaire asked the patients attending the surgery about appointments, access, parking, signage, staff attitudes, cleanliness and the quality of care amongst other things. Overall most people were happy with the services at the surgery. Most comments received were about the opening hours of the surgery, “Not open late enough or long enough”, “Not open in the middle of the day.”
The report makes one recommendation that the surgery consult with patients regarding the concerns raised about opening hours. This could be conducted in conjunction with the Patient Participation Group to gain a more representative view than our sample size of 29 respondents.
