Healthwatch Cheshire West conducted an Enter and View visit to Avandale Lodge on the 1st of June 2015. The team spoke to residents, relatives and staff using survey methods. They also made general observations during their time at the home.
The report indicated that Avandale Lodge provided a warm and caring environment for its residents. Staff commented that they enjoyed their work and felt that they were offered appropriate training opportunities. Residents commented that the staff were very caring. One relative indicated that, although Avandale Lodge was a good home, it would benefit from having more staff there at mealtimes. The overall sentiment from the report was that residents enjoyed living there.
The report made four recommendations. One was the refurbishment of garden furniture and general garden maintenance. Two other recommendations related to reviewing a two new roles that had been implemented. The fourth recommendation related to the timely turnaround of the DoLS by the local authority.
