Healthwatch Devon prepared a response to North, East and West Devon Clinical Commissioning Group following their invitation for feedback on several policy areas. There were four key areas that the CCG sought feedback on; the distance people travelled for care, the cost of care packages, how meaningful the current name is ‘Choice Policy, and how easy the policy is to understand and which care groups it should cover. The response drew from evidence that Healthwatch Devon already had. The CCG also sought feedback on end of life care. Healthwatch Devon responded by compiling the experiences of 8 individuals.
Healthwatch Devon provided evidence to the CCG of cases where policies had detrimentally affected patients and service users. These were used to illustrate the necessity for change. They also highlighted several suggested amendments to the policy to improve the experience of service users.
Healthwatch Devon made four recommendations in total. They recommended that consideration is given to the suggested amendments and that the CCG allowed enough time to consider the evidence presented to them.
The report did not include a response from North, East and West Devon CCG.
