Download (PDF 64.69 KB)

Summary of report content

This is the second of 3 case studies undertaken by Healthwatch Cornwall. Each case study focuses on an individual’s experience with self-harm and mental health services. This case study focused on a woman, Ms X, who has Asperger’s and was suffering from low mental health.

Following a number of admissions to hospital, Ms X had discharged herself each time because she felt she was being poorly treated and had not received the support she needed. Ms X described feeling scared and embarrassed.

Ms X provided a number of suggestions as to how services could be improved to better accommodate people who were struggling with their mental health. She suggested that more proactive follow-ups and better information sharing would be helpful.
