Summary of report content

This is the end-of-project report from the CLASP healthy living project. CLASP is a self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham Borough, who created the project with funding and support from Healthwatch Wokingham Borough.

The project lasted for 10 weeks and consisted of workshops which covered many aspects of healthy living, including:

- Exercise and wellbeing

- Sleep

- Mental health

25 self advocates attended the workshops and CLASP’s Project Assistant helped to create a video of our project to capture the best moments. An important part of the project was signposting for the members to other health and wellbeing services.

The project uncovered some interesting findings, including:

- That there are lots of differences with the Annual Health Checks and that not everyone is having them.

- The Health Action Plans are not being used to record the Annual Health Checks.

- There needs to be more support to set realistic and achievable goals to help people reach targets like losing weight.

- There is easy read health information available but it is not always used.

There are no recommendations included in the report but there is a response from Wokingham Borough Council.
