Summary of report content

This is an enter and view report conducted by Healthwatch Bucks 29 November, 2017. During the visit Healthwatch representatives spoke to 5 people, which included a mix of staff and residents. The visit was unannounced, though a two week window was given for the visit.

Overall the home was found to be operating to an acceptable standard. The enter and view team found mixed indicators of quality on the visit. Examples include no picture menus, the need for more staff at meal time, a bottle of urine that had not been taken away. There is however a detailed response from the provider which offers explanations for the issues found on the visit.

Recommendations were made as part of this report. A response from the home manager has been attached.

- Obtain more help available, from staff, relatives or volunteers, at lunchtime to enable those who need help to eat to receive itwhilst still providing staff support for other residents

- Ask local knit and natter groups or to produce a range offidget cuffs / blankets for residents who live with dementia.

- Borrow reminiscence resources form Bucks Libraries.

- Arrange more one-to-one activities particularly for those who choose toremain in their rooms.

- Post weekly written and pictorial menus up on the wall or dining room tables.
