Healthwatch Wirral conducted an enter and view visit on Upton Grange, a privately run care home in Birkenhead, which provides
residential, dementia, respite care and accommodation over 2 floors for up to 52 residents.
The visit was arranged as Healthwatch Wirral wanted to conduct a 'Green visit' with an elected member of local government that does not cover the constituency of the home.
Conclusions of the Enter and View representatives included:
• All areas were fresh and there were no unpleasant odours.
• The building was in a good state of repair and condition.
• It was commendable that the Anchor were providing additional investment in the home.
• The atmosphere was welcoming and staff were friendly and enthusiastic.
• Staff appeared to be caring, respectful and approachable
• Residents looked well cared for and cheerful.
Healthwatch Wirral made 2 recommendations:
• Display Healthwatch ‘Your Voice’ leaflets to allow feedback to be gathered independently.
• Continue with programme of refurbishment to include a Dementia Friendly environment.
