How doctors collect and use patient feedback

Summary of report content

Healthwatch Greenwich undertook a public consultation in July 2019. They were asked by the General Medical Council to find out what the public thought about their new proposal under which all licensed doctors will have to collect patient feedback every year instead of every five years as part of their re-validation.

This report shared the views of 14 local residents, and representatives from patient and BAME groups. They agreed with the GMC's plans and wanted an independent body, like Healthwatch, to be responsible for collecting patient feedback to reduce possible bias. The report also shared their suggestions.
