Healthwatch Bucks carried out an Enter and View visit to Lent Rise House, a care home that can accommodate up to 60 residents. This visit was carried out as part of the Dignity in Care project. At the time of the visit there were 38 residents, many of whom were living with dementia.
Findings from the observations of the Enter and View representatives included: varying levels of interaction between staff and residents throughout the home; positive feedback about the meals provided; the home was clean, tidy and homely, and included a garden room, library and music area; there were a variety of activities available for residents to enjoy; the monthly activity schedule was not available in a pictorial form.
Healthwatch Bucks made six recommendations surrounding: encouraging staff to engage residents in more proactive stimulation; ensuring water is available for residents to drink alongside the jugs of juice in communal areas; ensuring all residents are provided with crockery appropriate to their needs; ensuring the date and time are consistently correct in all parts of the home; putting up a weekly pictorial activity schedule. The report includes a response from the service provider.
