On 31st January 2019, Healthwatch Trafford undertook an announced Enter and View visit to the Haylands Residential Home. The aim was to find out how residents and their carers felt about the quality of service on offer. The home offered accommodation and personal care for up to 24 elderly male residents with dementia but had 22 at the time of the visit.
Healthwatch staff found that the home was bright, warm and odour free, with a variety of notice boards displaying information for residents and visitors; staff members worked and engaged in a kindly manner with residents; the staff were very happy to work at the home and felt fully supported by the management; the relative of a resident felt their relative were treated with kindness and compassion.
The report recommended to consider providing daily newspapers to enable those residents who are interested to keep informed on current affairs and have staff members wear name badges to enable visitors to identify staff members quickly and the roles they hold within the home.
