Healthwatch Milton Keynes conducted an Enter and View visit in March 2019 to Bay House Care Home. Observations and semi structured interviews were used to gather feedback from 2 residents and 2 relatives. The care home provides care for up to 23 residents, the majority of which need dementia care.
Residents reported that they were extremely satisfied with the care they receive at the home and complimentary of staff members. There is no planned activities, although, activities seemed to happen organically. Staff were observed to be talking to residents and encouraging them to engage in the activities, and where appropriate, allowed residents to undertake small jobs if they wanted to. Communication between the staff and residents was good and it was observed that staff had good relationships with all residents. The premises were clean and homely and there are pets kept in the home also. There was choice of meals at lunch times and a monthly menu is clearly displayed.
Healthwatch Milton Keynes recommended that cosmetic improvements be made to the premises. However, there were no significant issues identified throughout the observations and interviews.
