Healthwatch Torbay reported on their main activities carried out in Spring 2019. During this time: South Korean visitors from Seoul Metropolitan Government visited Torbay to learn more about how integrated health and social care works in the region; Healthwatch Torbay, Plymouth and Devon were working together to launch a special consultation to encourage people to share their views about what changes to local NHS services should look like locally; Healthwatch Torbay was selected to explore the local community’s experiences of mental health support, during pregnancy, throughout the perinatal period and up to 3 years beyond; and a guest blog featured to mark World Autism Awareness week. Healthwatch Torbay reported taking part in a number of events during this time period, including drop-in sessions at various local locations; talks, coffee mornings, community group meetings and health and wellbeing events; and visits to a variety of parent and baby or toddler groups to gather views of parents about the mental health support available to them both pre- and post-birth.
Examples of the impact of the valuable feedback from local people were also reported. Updates were provided for projects about: being a young person living in Torbay today; showing people how to access local health, social care and wellbeing services using the internet; and improving the Bay health trust’s self-help video library. Local and national health and social care news was reported, as well as examples of how providers of care, bodies that commission services and community partners have used local people’s feedback.
