Summary of report content

Healthwatch Wigan and Leigh developed a survey in November 2018 to ask local residents about the Community Book- a free, online directory that allows residents of Wigan and Leigh to connect with local services, activities and events.

The feedback was collected over a month using hand written surveys and an online survey.

The report collected responses from 152 people, and found that over half were regular internet users. However, of the 22 people who were aware of the Community Book, only 15 had used it. The majority of respondents indicated they used word of mouth or paper publications to find out what was going on in the local area. There was an even split between positive and negative experiences of using the Community Book.

The feedback suggested simplifying the Community Book to make it more user friendly, keeping updated information, and raising the awareness of it by advertising it in local companies, services and websites.

No recommendations were made in the report.
