Summary of report content

Healthwatch Hampshire produced a report based upon a 'mystery shopper' style survey they carried out in November 2017.

It involved volunteers of Healthwatch Hampshire ringing 137 different G.P. surgeries in the county of Hampshire asking questions around :

registration (how and what i.d. is required),

Patient engagement opportunities,

waiting times for standard and emergency appointments, and

methods of making appointments (telephone, on line etc).

The CCG areas covered by this survey were:

Fareham and Gosport

North Hampshire

North East Hampshire

West Hampshire

South East Hampshire

The mystery shopping activity highlighted an apparent inequality in accessing GP services across the county. The report also highlighted a need for practices to review the information they are giving out to patients to ensure its clarity and accuracy.

There was no response provided by any of the providers/surgeries.
