Summary of report content

Healthwatch Croydon conducted a survey gathering the views of 74 service users on their experience of GP hubs in Croydon, in June 2017.

The research was carried out as part of Healthwatch Croydon engagement with residents to identify their experience of primary care services. Three sites were visited: Central Croydon Hub, Purley Hub and Parkway Hub.

Average travel time to hubs is generally between 15 – 30 minutes. Respondents were aware of what services were offered at the hubs. Signage was not consistently clear or available. Signage inside the hubs that explained that queuing system was too small, while signage to the x-ray facility was not available. Service access was mainly a walk-in service, with many respondents either walked into the hubs or were signposted by their GP. Average waiting time to be seen was between 15 – 30 minutes of arrival time, but Purely hub had a longer waiting time. Respondents were generally satisfied with the services provided at the hubs. Longer waiting times was the main reason for dissatisfaction with the service.

The report makes the following recommendation:

• Suspected fracture patients would benefit from full information clearly displaying the care pathway for fractures at Purley.
