In March 2016, Healthwatch Wakefield completed an Enter and View of their local CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service). Following on from this, it was decided to explore the experiences of both children and young people and their parents/carers whilst on the waiting list to receive support from the service. They undertook a survey to which 17 parents and children responded.
The report covers:
The experience of being on the waiting list for the CAMHS service
- Access to support whilst waiting, including self help information
- What other services people had tried to access in the meantime.
The report contains five recommendations about improving waiting times for CAMHS and support whilst waiting.
