Healthwatch Wokingham borough conducted an Enter and View on Down Lodge Care Home, a privately owned care home with 15 rooms, on 31 July 2017.
This visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Wokingham borough’s Enter and View schedule. It was an announced visit.
The Enter and View representatives reported that:
- Staff interacted regularly with residents, were cheerful, respectful and treated residents with dignity.
- All residents they engaged with raised no issues about their surroundings.
- They were impressed by the close involvement of the owner/proprietor in the day to day life of the home and his obvious concern for the welfare of the residents.
The report contains responses from the service and also details two recommendations:
• Consideration is giving to inviting in external community groups into the home to support the activities programme.
• Review if residents are seeing the dentist regularly e.g. every six months for check ups
