Healthwatch Cumbria conducted an Enter and View onCroft Avenue Care Home, Cumbria, a privately owned care home. The visit was conducted on 21st June 2017.
The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Cumbria's enter and view schedule.
Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that:
The gardens were in need of maintenance and the care home stated they were in the process of hiring a gardner.
The home is run by BUPA but a number of the residents are funded by the local authority.
One relative stated sometimes there did not seem to be enough staff.
There was an activities coordinator who provided a number of activities for residents. There was an activities notice board for residents see.
Residents that were spoken too were happy living there and found the home well maitained and clean.
Access to healthcare services were ok - Out of hours GP good, NHS dentist was a problem but some residents had private dental care.
There were regular visits from chiropadist, mental health practitioner and optitian.
