Summary of report content

Healthwatch Birmingham conducted an Enter and View visit to Moundsley Hall Care Village, which consists of two main buildings within six acres of garden. The village accommodates up to 60 adults of all ages, caring for those with physical disabilities, illness and dementia. It is located on the border of Birmingham but is under the remit of Worcestershire County Council.

The aim of the visit was: to listen to residents' views of their care, focusing particularly on how the staff obtains and uses residents' feedback; and to help the organisations that fund and regulate social care in the area to understand residents' perspective of care provided at Moundsley Hall, particularly whether residents feel the staff are treating them with dignity and respect. The Enter and View Representatives spoke to four residents and six members of staff during the visit. Key findings from interviews with residents included: residents felt listened to by the staff, and that staff acted on the feedback they heard; residents felt staff treated them with dignity and respect, and met their care needs. The Enter and View Representatives observed that: interactions between staff and residents appeared warm, friendly, and caring; staff talked to, smiled and listened to the residents, and addressed them by name; eye contact and tone of voice were mostly good; staff were welcoming to visitors and treated each other with respect; and staff appeared caring and patient despite a hectic workload.

At the time the report was published, Healthwatch Birmingham had not received a response from the service provider.
