Healthwatch Cumbria conducted an Enter and View on Parkside Care Home, Cumbria, a council owned care home . The visit was conducted on 22nd May 2017.
The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Cumbria's enter and view schedule.
Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that:
The home was a hive of activity and residents seemed to be happy either talking in groups or taking part in activities. There were activity posters around the home and visits by entertainers were organised on a regular basis. Trips away from thye home were also organised monthly if possible.
There were bi monthly resident meetings where residents could ask for changes.
The local GP usually attended the homa every Monday and access to other healthcare professionals was easy.
The menus were varied and the people spoken too enjoyed the food. The cook was willing to cater for individual needs and requests for changes to the menu.
A recommendation was submitted bu Healthwatch Cumbria to de clutter the outdoor patio area before summer to allow better use. The manager agreed and has prepared an action plan.
