Summary of report content

Healthwatch Warwickshire conducted an Enter and View on Tysoe Surgery, an NHS GP Practice with 1,300 patients on 16th May 2017.

The Enter and View representatives reported that:

- the building was in good condition though maintenance was planned to improve the driveway;

- there are facilities for people with disabilities (parking, toilets, hearing loop);

- patients are informed of delays but not length; there is no comments/complaints box in reception.

Patients who provided responses to the questionnaire:

- gave a generally positive rating on the appointment booking system;

- gave a generally positive rating on the opening hours;

- mostly rated access to the GP surgery as excellent or good;

- all rated the cleanliness and hygiene as excellent or good;

- mostly rated their GP as excellent or good, some comments made about not being able to see GP of choice;

- almost all rated their nurse as excellent or good;

- all rated the reception staff as excellent or good;

- gave a mixed rating on the punctuality of appointments, several comments about regular delays and about not being informed of length of delay;

- almost all rated involvement in decision-making as excellent or good;

- all rated the overall quality of care, treatment and service as excellent or good.

Recommendations were made with regard to:

- informing patients of delays, specifically the length of delays, to appointments;

- improving the driveway to make it stable for people with mobility issues.

The Surgery response apologised for not having a sign up indicating delays to appointment and committed to ensuring this would be up in future. They also stated that the driveway would be repaired in August.
