Healthwatch Warwickshire conducted an Enter and View on Little Thatch, an NHS GP Practice with 11,100 patients on 24th April 2017.
Observation by the Enter and View representatives reported that:
- the building was in good condition, with no car park
- wheelchair/pushchair access issues
- an online booking system is not advertised, no electronic check-in
- some leaflets out of date
Patients who provided responses to the questionnaire:
- gave a mixed rating on the appointment booking system;
- mostly rated the opening hours as excellent or good;
- gave a mixed rating on access to the GP surgery, with several negative comments made regarding lack of parking;
- almost all rated the cleanliness and hygiene as excellent or good;
- all rated their GP as excellent or good;
- all rated their nurse as excellent or good;
- all rated the reception staff as excellent or good;
- gave a mixed rating on punctuality of appointments, some comments made about delays being expected;
- almost all rated involvement in decision-making as excellent or good;
- all rated the overall quality of care, treatment and service as excellent or good.
The Practice Manager commented on the local, rural difficulties in trying to increase services to meet demand, and the benefits seen from the changes to training of admin staff.
Recommendations were made with regard to:
- improving access via two front doors
- ensuring consistent approach to communicating delays to appointments
- reviewing information on display to ensure it is up to date and covers a broad range of services
The Practice Manager responded that the Surgery has reviewed the report but no further comments provided.
