Summary of report content

Sandycroft Care Home is a nursing care home in Blackpool which has the capacity for up to 26 residents. The home caters for people with dementia and their families and to assist them, the home has created a visible dementia memory tree and a wish tree.

The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Blackpool’s enter and view schedule and was conducted on 24th August 2016 when 11 residents were asked to share their views.

Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that:

Overall, the residents in the nursing care home were very happy with the care they received from Sandycroft, however, there were mixed comments on a number of issues. These ranged from an accessibility issue about the front door access and the food, drink and activities available.

Once the observation had been carried out, Healthwatch Blackpool suggested some recommendations which Sandycroft listened to and acted on to make the relevant changes.
