Summary of report content

In October 2026, Healthwatch Greenwich worked with the Royal Borough of Greenwich Public Health and Wellbeing Team to explore how preventative health support could be delivered more effectively within Global Majority communities. The project involved four established community groups and engaged 89 residents through discussions, practical exercise sessions, health information and, where available, blood pressure checks.

Residents were interested in maintaining their health but highlighted barriers to putting advice into practice, including pain, affordability, language barriers, digital exclusion and difficulties accessing GP services. Participants emphasised the importance of culturally relevant health information, practical demonstrations and support delivered in familiar community settings. The findings suggest that preventative health initiatives are most effective when they reflect residents' everyday circumstances and are linked to accessible follow-on support.

In response, the Public Health and Wellbeing Team, Royal Borough of Greenwich committed to further community outreach, accredited health improvement training and additional workshops with community groups.
