Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk undertook research on patients’ experiences of care at Holt Medical Practice. In September 2026, Healthwatch visited the practice and collected feedback from 16 patients, with reviews achieving an average rating of 4 out of 5. The practice serves approximately 14,500 registered patients and offers services including minor surgery, specialist nursing clinics, women’s health services and diagnostic testing.

Overall, patients were positive about the care they received and frequently praised staff for being friendly, helpful and supportive. Many respondents described clinicians, nurses and paramedics as knowledgeable, empathetic and responsive, with several highlighting the quality of care they received during periods of illness or following hospital treatment. Patients also valued the practice’s 24-hour prescription collection service and felt communication had improved over the previous year.

The most common concern was difficulty obtaining appointments, particularly when patients wanted to see a specific doctor. Some respondents were frustrated by appointment booking arrangements, limited continuity of care and increasing reliance on digital communication. A small number also raised concerns about prescription issues, short appointment times and difficulties contacting the practice about complex family circumstances.

Healthwatch concluded that patients generally regarded Holt Medical Practice positively and appreciated the professionalism and kindness of staff. While access to appointments and continuity of care remained areas of concern, many patients felt the quality of care was very good once they were seen and several reported that the service had improved in recent years.
