Healthwatch Cheshire West report on their activities between July and September 2026. They engaged with 152 people through 14 community events, groups and meetings across Cheshire West, including community hubs, dementia cafés, refugee and asylum seeker groups, carers’ events, Pride events and NHS Living Well Bus sessions.
During the quarter, Healthwatch published the first two phases of its discharge project examining the experiences of Cheshire West residents discharged from Leighton Hospital. It also shared findings from a third phase with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other partners for their response, contributed evidence to the All-Age Carer Strategy Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, and began a new intelligence report bringing together Enter and View feedback from care home residents and relatives collected during 2025-26.
Alongside public engagement, Healthwatch continued to influence decision-making through participation in a wide range of local, regional and national strategic groups. These included the Cheshire West and Chester Health and Wellbeing Board, the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, safeguarding and learning disability partnerships, Cheshire and Merseyside quality and performance groups, urgent and emergency care boards, and NHS England engagement forums.
Healthwatch Cheshire West identified several priorities for the coming months, including publishing the final phase of its Leighton Hospital discharge work, completing a county-wide care home intelligence report, beginning a new discharge project focused on the Countess of Chester Hospital, and continuing engagement with communities across Cheshire West through local partnerships and outreach activities.
