Healthwatch Bradford report on its key achievement's for 2018/19. It:
- Published a major report on access to support for people with autistic spectrum conditions, highlighting problems with diagnosis, support and information. The findings led to the re-establishment of the local Autism Strategy Group to oversee improvements and delivery of an action plan.
- Published a report on NHS complaints processes, identifying barriers experienced by patients and carers. Recommendations were shared with providers and helped promote a more customer-focused approach to handling complaints and communicating with complainants.
- Established the Stroke Ambassadors Network, enabling stroke survivors and carers to directly influence service improvement. Ambassadors became involved in co-designing seven-day therapy services, attending operational meetings and helping shape stroke support information.
- Worked collaboratively across West Yorkshire on the Recall Matters project, promoting appropriate dental recall intervals and supporting efforts to improve access to NHS dental appointments.
- Gathered evidence from more than 100 women through the Talk About Gynae project, highlighting concerns about communication, involvement in decision-making and treatment options in gynaecological care.
- Played a key role in engaging local people on the NHS Long Term Plan and wider health system changes, ensuring community views informed future NHS planning in Bradford and District.
