Healthwatch Rotherham undertook an Enter and View visit to St Ann’s Medical Centre on 25 August 2026.
The visit found that the practice was generally well regarded by patients, who described staff as friendly, helpful and supportive. Patients particularly praised the availability of appointments, the telephone callback system and the convenience of having a wide range of services available in one location. Reception staff and nurses received especially positive feedback, and the practice was recognised for providing additional support services, including in-house mental health provision, social prescribing and sexual health services.
Patients identified some areas for improvement, including appointment cancellations, waiting times, communication issues and having to attend multiple appointments before receiving answers for ongoing health concerns. Concerns were also raised about the quality and availability of translation services. Staff were generally positive about teamwork and management support but highlighted increasing workload pressures, limited appointment availability, staffing challenges, communication issues and difficulties taking full breaks during busy periods.
Healthwatch Rotherham recommended improving access to interpretation services, introducing multilingual information for patients, reviewing appointment cancellations and communication processes, considering additional support for patients with mobility needs, and reviewing staff workload, appointment lengths and protected breaks. The practice accepted the findings and stated that it would continue working to support staff wellbeing while maintaining appropriate care for patients.
