Healthwatch Norfolk visited Mulbarton Surgery, part of The Humbleyard Practice, in July 2026 and gathered feedback from 22 patients. Overall, feedback was positive, with an average rating of 4 out of 5. Many patients praised staff for being friendly, helpful and respectful, and several spoke highly of the support they received for long-term conditions, nursing care and prescription services. Patients frequently described feeling listened to and well cared for.
The strongest positive theme was the attitude and professionalism of staff. Respondents highlighted helpful reception staff, supportive nurses and doctors who took time to listen and explain care. Several also praised the dispensary service, reporting that prescriptions were generally ready on time and that staff dealt quickly with problems when they arose. Some patients felt the practice had provided particularly good support during periods of ill health or following hospital treatment.
The main concerns related to access to appointments and communication systems. Patients reported long waits for routine appointments, difficulty getting through by telephone, large call queues and frustrations with online systems. Some felt that appointment booking processes were overly complicated, while others were unhappy about having to see different clinicians rather than a named GP. There were also isolated concerns about communication between doctors and dispensary staff regarding prescription requests.
Overall, patients valued the quality of care provided by clinicians and staff but felt that growing demand was affecting access to services. Healthwatch found that the most common concerns were appointment availability, telephone access, continuity of care and communication systems, while feedback about the care and professionalism of staff was overwhelmingly positive.
