Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk visited Grimston Medical Centre in August 2026 and gathered feedback from 22 patients. Overall, feedback was positive, with an average rating of 4 out of 5. Patients consistently praised staff for being kind, caring and professional, and several highlighted the quality of support provided by individual clinicians. Many also valued the convenience of the on-site dispensary and the text messaging system used to notify patients when prescriptions were ready.

The strongest positive theme was the quality of care. Patients frequently described doctors, nurses and reception staff as friendly, helpful and willing to take time to listen. Several respondents commented that clinicians explained conditions and treatment options clearly and involved them in decisions about their care. Many felt supported when they needed help and reported positive experiences of both face-to-face and online consultations.

The main concerns related to access and communication. Some patients reported long waits for routine GP and nursing appointments, difficulties seeing a preferred doctor and delays for blood test appointments. Others raised concerns about appointment punctuality, telephone consultations being unsuitable for people with hearing impairments, and aspects of communication at reception and in the dispensary. A small number felt they were not always listened to or that care lacked consistency.

Healthwatch concluded that Grimston Medical Centre is generally well regarded and viewed positively by most patients. Recommendations focused on improving access to appointments and accessibility for people with mobility or hearing difficulties. In response, the practice confirmed plans to reposition the external doorbell to improve accessibility, recruit an additional salaried GP and recruit another healthcare assistant to help reduce waiting times for blood test appointments.
