Enter and view: Woburn Sands

Healthwatch Milton Keynes carried out an Enter and View visit to Woburn Sands Lodge in June 2026. The home provides residential support for adults with mental health conditions and had seven residents living there at the time of the visit. Overall, Healthwatch found the service to be welcoming, well managed and person-centred, with residents supported to develop independence, maintain their wellbeing and make choices about their daily lives. No recommendations for improvement were made. 

The environment was described as homely, clean and well maintained. Recent refurbishment works had improved both indoor and outdoor areas, including a spacious garden with seating, planting areas and opportunities for residents to grow vegetables. Residents’ bedrooms and communal spaces were personalised and comfortable, and the home promoted a calm and supportive atmosphere. 

Staff interactions were consistently positive. Residents reported feeling safe, respected and able to speak to staff whenever needed. Daily support was tailored through individual plans that encouraged independence in areas such as personal care, shopping, cooking, managing health needs and participating in leisure activities. Staff also spoke positively about working at the home, describing a strong team culture, good support from management and extensive opportunities for training and professional development.

Residents described an active lifestyle with opportunities for holidays, shopping trips, visits to historic places and the seaside, sports, creative activities and maintaining contact with family and friends. Healthwatch concluded that Woburn Sands Lodge provides a positive, person-centred service that promotes dignity, choice, independence and wellbeing. The report highlighted staff wellbeing, staff development and the overall culture of the home as particular examples of good practice.
