Summary of report content

Healthwatch North Yorkshire’s October 2020 dentistry briefing highlighted increasing concern about access to dental services. The most common issue raised by residents was difficulty finding or accessing a dentist, accounting for 49% of the feedback received. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was the second most common theme, representing 25% of responses.

The briefing also found that 13% of respondents reported negative experiences with dental services, while a further 13% raised a variety of other concerns. Together, the findings suggested that access to dentistry was the dominant issue affecting people in North Yorkshire during this period, with the pandemic contributing significantly to delays and difficulties obtaining care.
