Enter and view: Park View Care Home

Healthwatch Liverpool carried out an Enter and View visit to Park View Care Home in February 2025. The home provides residential and nursing care for up to 56 residents and was supporting 51 people at the time of the visit. Overall, Healthwatch found a well-maintained, clean and welcoming environment, with residents, relatives and staff all speaking positively about the service. Despite being between permanent managers at the time of the visit, the home appeared well organised and supported by senior staff from the wider provider group. 

A key strength was the quality of the environment and care. The home was described as homely, tastefully decorated and dementia-friendly, with spacious communal areas, accessible outdoor spaces and personalised bedrooms. Residents praised the staff, activities and food, while relatives highlighted good communication and responsiveness. Activities included arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, coffee afternoons and seasonal events. Healthcare links were reported to be strong, particularly with the local GP practice, community matrons and opticians. 

The main challenge identified was access to dental care. Staff reported difficulty securing NHS dental services for residents and said they often had to rely on emergency dental provision or existing dentists used by residents before admission. The home was also in the process of changing pharmacy providers due to concerns about medication supply issues with the previous service. However, these issues were not reported to have negatively affected residents’ overall experience of the home.

Healthwatch concluded that Park View Care Home provides a high-quality service with good standards of care, cleanliness and resident wellbeing. No formal recommendations were made. Examples of good practice included the quality of food provision, strong healthcare partnerships, innovative activities, effective family engagement and the high standard of upkeep and presentation throughout the home.
