Enter and view: Rowles House Ltd

Healthwatch Luton carried out an Enter and View visit to Rowles House on 5 May 2026. The home provides residential and respite care for older people, including those living with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. Overall, Healthwatch found a clean, welcoming and recently refurbished environment with a calm atmosphere. Residents described the home as a friendly community and praised staff for being caring, respectful and approachable.

Residents reported feeling safe and well supported, with good access to healthcare services such as GPs, dentists, chiropodists and hospital appointments. Staff spoke positively about teamwork, training and management support, and Healthwatch observed warm interactions between staff and residents. Residents also appreciated being able to maintain contact with family and friends and said visitors were made welcome. 

Feedback about food was positive, with residents describing meals as varied and offering plenty of choice. Residents could choose where to eat and how they spent their time, helping to support independence and personal preference. The home also offered outdoor space, a children’s play area, a breastfeeding room and transport for community activities and outings. 

Healthwatch concluded that Rowles House provides a caring and inclusive service that promotes residents’ wellbeing, choice and dignity. Recommendations focused on making activities more visible through displayed timetables and improving how meal choices are communicated to residents, for example through written or pictorial menus.
