Healthwatch Luton carried out an Enter and View visit to The Vine House on 27 January 2026. The service provides supported living for adults with learning disabilities and was found to offer a calm, welcoming and homely environment. Residents spoke positively about life at the home, describing staff as kind, caring and supportive, and said they felt safe, listened to and respected. 

The home was observed to be clean, well maintained and personalised, with comfortable communal areas and good opportunities for residents to develop independence. Residents enjoyed a wide range of activities including horse riding, cinema trips, outings, gardening and social events. Family involvement was encouraged and residents maintained regular contact with relatives and friends. 

Staff described a supportive team culture with good communication, regular training and a strong focus on person-centred care. Healthwatch observed positive interactions between staff and residents, with staff adapting communication to meet individual needs and supporting people to make choices about their daily lives. Residents also spoke positively about the food and flexibility around meals and activities. 

Healthwatch identified no major concerns. Recommendations focused on introducing more structured opportunities for residents and relatives to provide feedback and ensuring cultural, religious and dietary needs continue to be clearly recorded and reviewed. Overall, The Vine House was found to provide a positive, supportive and person-centred service that promotes independence, wellbeing and community involvement.
