Healthwatch Coventry’s July 2026 report summarised feedback gathered from residents through surveys, outreach sessions, telephone conversations and community events. The services most frequently discussed were GP services, hospital inpatient services and hospital outpatient services. The three most common themes were access to services, waiting times and appointment systems.
GP services generated the largest volume of feedback. Many residents reported difficulties obtaining face-to-face appointments, long waiting times and frustration with telephone consultations. People felt that face-to-face appointments were more effective because clinicians listened more carefully. Others raised concerns about poor communication between services, problems with medication management and difficulties seeing the same GP consistently.
Hospital services received mixed feedback. Some residents praised excellent care and support, particularly from hospital staff and occupational therapy services. However, concerns were raised about long waiting times, misleading appointment information and overcrowded ward environments. Residents also wanted better communication and more patient-centred care across services.
Around 30% of all feedback was positive. Residents praised quick responses from some GP practices, good use of the NHS App, continuity with seeing the same GP, well-organised prescription services and positive experiences of mental health support and hospital care. Overall, the report highlights continuing concerns about access, waiting times and communication, alongside examples of good care and responsive services.
