Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bury carried out an Enter and View visit to Rock Healthcare GP Practice in April 2026. Overall, patients were positive about the quality of care they received and spoke highly of clinical staff, describing them as caring, respectful and supportive. Patients reported feeling listened to and involved in decisions about their care, and many felt confident returning to the practice in the future. The surgery itself was generally viewed as clean, accessible and easy to navigate.

The main concerns related to access to appointments. Some patients reported long waits for routine appointments and expressed a desire for greater flexibility, including increased online, evening and weekend availability. While the practice already offers extended access through the Primary Care Network and had recently increased online appointment capacity, feedback suggested that awareness of these services could be improved. Patients also reported occasional queues at reception and inconsistencies in communication when appointments were running late.

Feedback about staff was largely positive, particularly regarding GPs and clinicians. However, experiences of reception services were more mixed, with a minority of patients raising concerns about privacy at the reception desk and the overall reception experience. Staff described a supportive working environment and felt communication within the practice was generally effective, although workload pressures and managing high demand remained ongoing challenges.

Healthwatch concluded that Rock Healthcare provides a good standard of care, with strong clinical support and mostly positive patient experiences. Recommendations focused on improving access to appointments, strengthening communication with patients, increasing awareness of available services, reviewing patient flow and reception arrangements, and continuing to address privacy concerns within the reception area.
