Summary of report content

Healthwatch Liverpool carried out an Enter and View visit to Liverpool University Dental Hospital in September 2014 to observe the environment and understand the service provided. The visit found a clean, well-maintained facility with good training and treatment areas and no concerns regarding the quality or safety of care. Discussions with staff highlighted the importance of improving public awareness of oral health, preventative dental care and access to appropriate services. Concerns were also raised about inappropriate referrals and public understanding of the hospital's role. Recommendations focused on strengthening oral health promotion, exploring preventative initiatives for young children and improving monitoring of referral patterns
