Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk visited Bowthorpe Health Centre in August 2026 to gather patient feedback about local primary care services. Thirteen reviews were collected, resulting in an average rating of 4.3 out of 5. Overall, patients were positive about the care they received and frequently praised the friendliness, professionalism and helpfulness of staff. Several respondents highlighted examples of responsive care, including prompt referrals and early diagnosis of serious health conditions.

Patients spoke positively about doctors, nurses and reception staff, describing them as thorough, caring and good communicators. Many felt listened to during appointments and valued the support they received in managing their health. Some respondents reported being able to access appointments when needed and appreciated the convenience of the surgery, pharmacy and parking facilities.

The most common concerns related to access and continuity of care. Several patients reported long waits for appointments, including blood tests, difficulties obtaining face-to-face consultations and challenges seeing the same doctor consistently. Some commented that continuity had declined over recent years and felt it was harder to build relationships with individual clinicians. A small number of respondents also reported negative experiences with specific doctors or difficulties obtaining urgent appointments.

Overall, feedback suggests that patients value the quality of clinical care and the commitment of staff at Bowthorpe Health Centre. However, concerns about appointment availability, waiting times and continuity of care continue to affect patient experience. Despite these issues, most respondents remained positive about the service and acknowledged the pressures facing primary care services.
