Healthwatch Greenwich carried out an Enter and View visit to Time Court, a 56-bed residential and nursing care home supporting older adults, including people with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and nursing needs. Overall, the home made a very positive impression. Healthwatch found a calm, welcoming and well-managed environment, with stable staffing, good training opportunities and residents who were generally satisfied with the care and support they received. The home had previously received a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission.
Residents were supported in personalised bedrooms featuring memory boxes and photographs outside rooms, and had access to a wide range of facilities including landscaped sensory gardens, a hairdressing salon, a cinema room, communal lounges and regular social activities. Residents could personalise their rooms, choose their meals and participate in activities ranging from gardening and social events to religious services. Feedback from residents and relatives highlighted respectful care, flexible routines, high-quality food and positive relationships with staff and management.
Healthwatch observed good access to healthcare services, including regular GP visits, medication reviews, specialist nursing support, optometry and dietary services. Staff appeared knowledgeable and attentive, and relatives praised the manager's open-door approach and the home's commitment to maintaining residents' dignity and independence. The home was described as clean, fresh and well maintained, with communal areas designed to feel more like ordinary living spaces than institutional settings.
Areas for improvement included dementia-friendly signage and wayfinding, securing access routes between the care home and adjoining day centre, clarifying transport arrangements for residents, and improving placement processes for some people referred with dementia-related needs. Healthwatch concluded that Time Court offers high-quality, person-centred care and provides a supportive and homely environment for residents.
