Summary of report content

Healthwatch Central West London surveyed 345 residents across Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster to understand awareness of local Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs). The survey found that awareness was very low, with only 27% of respondents aware of the new health and care plans and fewer than 20% familiar with the term "Sustainability and Transformation Plans".

Despite low awareness, there was strong interest in learning more. Nearly 90% of respondents said they wanted more information, yet only 13% had attended a public event about the future plans for health and care. Many participants felt they had not been adequately informed or consulted about the changes being proposed.

Respondents called for better communication, simpler language, greater patient involvement and more accessible engagement opportunities. Preferred methods for receiving information included online resources, GP surgery leaflets, public events, social media, email and local community venues.

Overall, Healthwatch concluded that local NHS organisations needed to improve public engagement, transparency and communication around STPs. Recommendations focused on involving communities earlier in decision-making, providing information in accessible formats, reaching seldom-heard groups, and showing clearly how public feedback influences local plans.
