Healthwatch Greenwich undertook an enter and view visit to Ashgreen House. They found it to be a well-maintained, welcoming and accessible care home providing residential, nursing and intermediate care. The environment was clean, spacious and dementia-friendly, with themed corridors, personalised bedrooms, memory boxes and attractive communal areas that supported residents' independence and wellbeing.
Staff interactions were consistently positive. Residents appeared comfortable and well cared for, and staff were observed treating people with kindness, dignity and respect. The home demonstrated strong person-centred care, with personalised information available to support staff in meeting individual needs.
A varied programme of activities, outings and community engagement was in place, supported by a dedicated activities coordinator. Residents also had access to beauty treatments, hairdressing services, gardens and regular social events. Meals were varied, residents had choices and dietary needs were well managed.
Healthwatch concluded that Ashgreen House provided a high-quality service with many examples of good practice. The only recommendations were to display activity schedules on all units and consider introducing a resident newsletter to improve communication about upcoming events and activities.
