Youthwatch Leeds, a self-led group of Healthwatch Leeds volunteers, aged 13 to 25, worked with young people who receive mental health support to come up with 11 top tips for access:

  1. Friendly supportive staff
  2. Creating a welcoming place
  3. Private spaces
  4. Accessible and safe spaces
  5. Make arriving, waiting and settling in easy
  6. Build in accessibility from the start
  7. Be flexible in how support is offered
  8. Create a sense of community
  9. Clear information before attending
  10. Make first contact simple, clear and respectful of privacy
  11. Use young people's voices to shape and improve the service
